I am now at 25 weeks!
The time is FLYING by! I absolutely love being pregnant and am really enjoying this stage in the pregnancy. I am feeling really great with plenty of energy, the baby moves all the time and shows off and does flips when Ryan feels him. We're getting more and more excited day by day! I will admit I look at his tiny socks and onesies just about every single day. I know that having a baby isn't the easiest thing but we are definitely looking forward to the challenge! I am grateful for good health and no complications so far. Let's keep this up! (Oh and yes, I do still have my Christmas tree up. Don't judge. It will probably be up for a few more months! I like the extra color!)
For all you moms out there I need your advice! We will be in Italy for about a month or so after the baby is born waiting for his passport to arrive. I am needing to know what you think are absolute NECESSITIES for a tiny newborn. I am not wanting to get everything here just to take it home a month later so I am going to make it by with the bare minimum. I am set on little onesies, burp rags, blankets, diapers and wipes. Please let me know what you HAD to have with your little one! Thanks!

The only other thing I would suggest for that first month would be a baby bouncer seat. I stuck Jack in his every time I needed to get a shower or make dinner and he happened to be awake.
I second the bouncy seat. I would DIE without mine. They are my third, fourth, fifth and sixth arms! I still use mine 5 months later and it's a lifesaver. The girls come in the kitchen with me, in the bathroom, while I'm on the computer, they take naps in them... We love them! Now, they're starting to play with the toys on the bar they came with and so it entertains them even more. I seriously could be a commercial for those things!
Oh and by the way, you look fabulous!
boppy pillow. some sort of infant seat for baby. stroller. and i love the zip up pajamas! i hate the gowns and snap pajamas- they are so hard to get on and off, and you will probably be changing lots of diapers!
you have such a cute belly!
I would suggest getting a baby bijorn or baby sling to carry them around in the first month, rather than a stroller. because that would be a pain to take home with you. good luck!
Boppy pillow for nursing and zip up pjs. You won't want to deal with snaps at 3am.
1. Boppy
2. Nipple cream- for you of course. :) I had a rough time with nursing in the beginning and the cream saved my life. Hopefully it will be a breeze for you but if you do get sore that stuff is great.
3. Sleep sacks. I LOVE steeles little sleep sacks. He's finally getting too long for them and it makes me sad. They're super easy to put on, zip em up and bam!
4. If the weather is nice you may want to go on some walks. I don't know what the selection is out there but I love my BOB stroller. We bought an infant car seat adapter so I never have to take him out of his carseat. Super easy and nice. And it would actually make it nicer traveling with a stroller because you can push baby boy all the way up to the gate, they'll check the stroller and car seat then it'll be there right when you get off the plane. That way you dont have to carry him all throughout the airports.
Whew sorry for the novel! So excited for you. Pregnancy is so CUTE! :)
i have NO advice for you... but you look beautiful!
BOUNCER BOUNCER BOUNCER!! I use mine in the first few months like crazy. I love my babies to be around me even in the shower. Especially with my first. I was obsessed with checking on her and making sure she was ok. I calmed down a little after Matthew was home and a bit more stable....
Anyway, I personally think you can do with out the boppy until you get home. A pillow works just fine. boppy's are great and all but I'm surprised how little I use mine and it's easily accessible. I'm just lazy and grab a pillow right next to me.
I got overwhelmed with thinking of all the stuff babies "need" with my first. One thing you will learn is how little they need. You could get by with next to nothing and all your child needs is you to comfort, clothes for wamrth, blankets, burp clothes, food, and diapers. Of course the car seat and stroller but as far as gadgets and stuff, that all comes later down the road. And clothes can be washed and washed again. I forget how much I just leave my babies in there jammies. Newborns sleep soooo much and who wouldn't want to sleep in jammies. So I always regret all the outfits we bought that i barely use. It's nice to have a few but I'm a jammie baby person. If that makes sense...
Sorry that was too long. I second the nipple cream. With my second i didn't need it but with my first it was a must!
OH and bottles. You never know if breast feeding might not work out for you. (I've had some friends not be able to do it) Just get the 4 oz size. (you can skip 2 oz. bottles) and 2 bottles would be enough since you just wash them anyway. And if you can breast feed maybe a hand pump. You wouldn't need a automatic double breast pump now but a hand pump could get you buy encase you needed to leave your baby and needed to leave some breast milk. There WAY cheaper.
hahaha. that was way too long. SORRY!
The bouncer chairs are great! My kids have loved swings but I would say wait and get that once you are back here so you don't have to move it. Car seat and stroller are great. I only use my big huge stroller that my car seat connects to until they can sit up by themselves because they are so huge they take up an entire trunk. Then I just buy a nicer umbrella stroller with a basket so you can still have somewhere to put stuff. So if you can find a stroller that connects to different car seats that might be best! The first month will not be too bad as far as necessities for the baby, it is totally an adjustment period for you and Ryan though. Just getting used to someone else's needs coming before your own. Love you girl and I am glad to hear things are going good. Has your hair stopped falling out?
Well since I was in the EXACT same position as you with Wyatt (when we lived in Luxembourg and came home when he was 2 months), I'll let you know what I did...We got a bouncy seat while we were there and when we left, we gave it to the ward to give to anyone that might need it. It wasn't a fancy one, just one to get the job done for a couple months. We also had a stroller which was great since we went around a lot to explore. And like someone else said, you can bring it home with you. They'll check it at the gates at the airport so you can use it then too. We had a few other things, but I don't think you need them till you get home. I hardly ever (as in like 3 times) used a boppy, so I don't think it's necessary, and we had a baby bjorn, but didn't use it much so you could wait till you got home for that if you want. But that's what we did and it worked out great. Any other things we had that we didn't have room to take back with us, we gave to the ward. I hope that helps! You look cute!
Oh and for jammies, i say get gowns all the way!!! Buttond and zippers are annoying...with the gown you can change them and i swear they wont know it...i LOVE the gowns! Just thought i'd let ya know ;)
Yeah! That was the funnest update! You look beautiful and I am so happy the baby is healthy and everything is going well! We were in the same predicament with Oscar and getting his passport! We will have to talk on skype again! xoxo
Don't waste your money on a boppy pillow. You only use it a few times. Not worth the money, save it for clothes or books. :) I would say a seat of some sort you can put him in. You look so good! Darling little baby bump.
I think pregnancy makes women so beautiful. You are absolutely glowing. I am so happy for you!
oh I didnt read the end of your post, the only thing i think is a must for one month is a swing. At the beginning Olivia was so fussy and cried all night long. Some nights the only way I could get her to sleep was in her swing. I would let it swing for hours to get some sleep and keep my sanity. I hope your babies not fussy, but you never know. Then you dont have to get a crib or bassionette, he can just sleep in it. Good luck!
1. Definitely a sling. Or a Bjorn. But my baby loved being cuddled in the sling. And I felt like it kept germs away from her (especially on the plane)
2. Nipple cream. Start using it NOW.
3. Moses basket or pack n play. Pack n play is a great investment and you will always use it. If you don't want to have to bring it home- buy a cheap moses basket and leave it there! And it seconds as a place to put him during the day.(but for the first couple of months I LOVED having Eloise sleep with me. It was my favorite. There are even co sleeper things that you can put on your bed to keep them safe. That might be a good option for you.
4. Pump. My pump SAVED me. Medela Swing pump. Small and Portable. I even pumped on the plane!
5.I loved the gowns with all the diaper changing. Snaps are the worst.
6. You should have a couple bottles and formula... just in case.
7. If you are going to get a stroller- I LOVE LOVE the City Mini. Otherwise- I would get the BOB.
You look so good! I will keep thinking for you! xoxo
Hey! I never left you a comment bc you got so many good ones. My picks...bouncy seat, sling or carrier - Quinn hated sling loved bjorn but all are different, I love pjs with zippers - gymboree sometimes carries super snug zip pjs and they are by far my favorite and I agree that snaps are the worst bc you are so tired in the middle of the night that you can't bother with them, I try to have my babies listen to a white noise machine or music when they fall asleep bc then I can use the same white noise or music wherever I travel and they have an easier time falling asleep even though it's not the environment they are used to bc the sound they hear means it's time for bed. Loves!
